The Vapor Recovery Systems Co. (VAREC) began business in the early 1930’s at its manufacturing plant in Compton, California. While in its infancy, the biogas market of the early 1950’s experienced rapid growth. This led to Varec’s focus on delivering quality biogas handling products, specifically designed with each customer in mind. That focus led to the creation of Varec Biogas.

Varec Biogas initially sold directly to end-users which limited its market reach. A Sales Representative Network established in the 1970’s, facilitated sales within a growing market which catered to Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plants. A select number of Sales Representatives in the U.S. helped Varec Biogas become the leading experts in biogas handling and safety products. Today, this network extends internationally to provide services to Wastewater Treatment Plants that utilize anaerobic digesters for treatment of biosolids.

On April 15, 2019, Ovivo Inc. acquired Westech Industrial Inc., (dba) Varec Biogas a wholly-owned subsidiary of Westech Industrial Ltd. The Varec Biogas product line is complementary to Ovivo’s biosolids management and resource recovery offering and will remain dedicated in providing total solutions to the biogas market.
